Stepping Stones Museum for ChildrenUSA provided engineering development, fabrication, and installation services for a large portion of the museums Waterscape exhibits. Our scope of work included a review of water systems and plumbing design from water supply to water return. Fabrication techniques were widely varied, and included fiberglass, plastic lumber, stainless steel, and retrofitted off-the shelf pumps and water toys, to create a long-lasting and easy to maintain water-proof environment. A large umbrella with a translucent shade is central to the gallerys design; water flows from the top of the umbrella into the main water canal.HANDS-ON WATERSCAPEVisitors enter this gallery under a giant umbrella that protects them from an overhead artificial rainstorm. The Pools and Cascades Exhibit is a stream bed with vortex, fog machine and other activities to engage visitors in water play and experimentation.Exhibit Development Team: Client: Stepping Stones Museum for Children Design: Jeff Kennedy Associates Engineering & Fabrication: USA General Contractor: Design Craftsmen Inc. |
